Brent Hine is the Curator of the E.H. Lohbrunner Alpine Garden at the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research

“Maurits and me have been solid horticultural friends thanks in large part to his great generosity with plant exchanges. Truly he has he's enriched my work garden, while constantly feeding me new and interesting information on our shared favourite groups of plants.  He's rare among plantsmen, because he cares, follows through on suggestions, ideas and commitments.  If all friends were as sincere as he is, the world would truly be an even richer experience!”

Mark Bulk is the owner of the Nursery ‘Rein en Mark Bulk’. The name of the Nursery ‘Rein en Mark Bulk’, has since the nineteen fifties been known as “The Nursery for Special Plants”.

“Maurits and I have known each other for quite a number of years (not sure how many) and throughout the years we've received many nice and interesting plants from him. We try to exchange but it often is the generosity of Maurits that makes me feel guilty. Thanks to Maurits we now have for us new species and cultivars growing on the nursery of Acacia, Callistemon, Prostanthera, Nothofagus, Leptospermum and many more. I particular find it interesting to get acquainted with a group of plants of which I didn't know much about and to test their hardiness, which is often surprisingly good for our climate and therefore giving new appeal to gardening.”
